Overview
Vocation Ministry is a Catholic nonprofit located in northwest Houston, Texas. Our mission is to train, equip, and encourage priests, parishioners, and educators to promote vocations to the priesthood, consecrated life, and sacramental marriage in their parishes and schools in a variety of ways. We seek to hire and retain employees skilled in their field, active in their Catholic faith, and enthusiastically dedicated to carrying out Vocation Ministry's mission. It is preferred if the candidate lives within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

About the Position
The Finance Director reports directly to the President of Vocation Ministry and is responsible for all financial aspects of the organization, including strategic planning, creating, and maintaining accurate financials records and reports, developing and overseeing budget, and performing transactional duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with President on strategic planning
  • Prepare budget, including evaluating the needs of each department, and monitoring variances
  • Maintain accuracy of all financial transactions and reporting
  • Reconciliation of accounts and bank statements
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports
  • Verify and record entries into accounting system
  • Coordinate with and provide information to CPA for tax preparation and filing
  • Perform bill payment and create customer invoices
  • Payroll - Review and process employee payroll and contract payments
  • Inventory Control:
  • Coordinate with fulfillment center to maintain appropriate inventory
  • Purchase inventory

Qualifications & Experience
Vocation Ministry seeks applicants who are highly motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, have strong written and oral communication skills, and have a deep commitment to our mission and work. The candidate should be a strong team player who can also work independently.

As the ideal candidate you will also have:
  • Minimum five years of accounting experience
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with NFP accounting and taxes
  • Robust understanding accounting best practices
  • High attention to detail
  • Produce work with high level of accuracy
  • Professionalism and strong organization skills

Hours/Salary/Benefits
  • 25-30 hours per week.
