What You’ll Be Doing
Seeking an Investment Banking Associate to help support the continued growth of our platform. Responsible for coordinating the preparation of marketing materials, Associates are expected to be active contributors during every phase of the deal process. They lead the writing and development of both initial pitch material and confidential information memoranda. They are expected to actively participate in drafting sessions and due diligence meetings. Associates are responsible for valuation analyses and merger and acquisition models. Typical candidates have three to five years of experience in investment banking or a related transactional experience.
How You’ll Succeed
- Conduct industry research and analysis
- Develop financial models
- Participate in cross-functional teams and liaison with other units of CIBC Capital Markets in executing mandates or preparing proposals for clients
- Organize presentations to potential clients
- Prepare industry and financial analyses to determine client recommendations
- Oversee comparable public company, precedent transaction, and other valuation analyses
- Assist in company due diligence
- Prepare confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and other transaction marketing materials
- Mentor, train and direct junior professionals
- Coordinate and participate in calls and meetings with clients and potential buyers
- Excellent analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices.
- Knowledge of accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation.
- Demonstrated experience preparing high quality client deliverable documents and presentations.
- Extremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming significant levels of responsibility for assignments to be completed within short time frames.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, to actively participate in developing and maintaining productive client relationships.
- Well-developed organizational skills in order to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous projects.
- Demonstrated job commitment including a willingness to work, as well as personal flexibility and adaptability in order to meet client deliverables and timelines.
- Ability to mentor and train junior professionals.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills in order to convey factual and conceptual information to others and promote the interests of CIBC.
- As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- The employee will contribute to transaction idea generation and will recommend and pursue new forms of analysis.
